iMac (2009) won't boot, fans acting erratically

My imac 2009 no longer turns on. When I press the power button it will either do nothing or the fans will come on at full throttle.

I have reset the pram by unplugging it and presseing the power button etc, however this has not made a difference.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? My fear is that either the PSU or the logic board has gone

Sounds like a trip to the Apple Store maybe in order to have the computer checked out. At least that will be free, the checkout I mean. Was this an all of a sudden this that happened or did you notice anything about the computer not acting correctly before this happened?
