I have searched Google for the answer and it seems I am getting mixed results. I have an iMac 2010 and I am wanting to upgrade the i3 to either the i5 or i7, preferably the i7 ( http://goo.gl/KDDl ). I was looking at this one on NewEgg. I am curious if this will work though, are there any power issues? Has anyone done this that can confirm it will work?

Thanks

Gigantic pain in the ass.

Why don't you just sell your i3 and buy a refurb i7? Probably going to end up costing the same money, plus you'll get a better GPU.

I realise this is an old topic but I just upgraded the processor in my 2010 iMac i3 3.2 to an i7 870 2.93. Pretty simple upgrade if you are able to undo a few screws and plugs from the motherboard.

The price of the i7 870 has dropped to around £215 in the UK, so it's a reasonably cheap upgrade if you are brave enough to have a go.
