Hey all,

I have a 2010 iMac 27" quad i7.

I was burning a few dvd's and then it wouldn't let me insert one. The slot-loading drive offers a lot of resistance and I don't want to break it. It doesn't feel right. Now I can't burn anymore :(. And no, there is not a CD in it.

So I googled this and it appears a lot of people had this problem. If there anyway to home-fix this? I have Applecare and what-not but I'm far too lazy to drag this big ***** thing to the Apple store and have them replace it which would take a few days I'm sure. Yes, I know I'm lazy, at least I'm not in denial.

If there's a disk in the drive, there's a metal plate that comes up to keep you from inserting another disk, but it's possible to get a disk past it. You may already have two disks in your drive. It's incredibly common.
