I am sure someone has tried this or knows the answer, but I couldn't find an answer when searching.

The 2011 iMac (12,2) uses DDR3 - 1333 SO-DIMMS. I am aware that it can support up to 32gb (4 x 8gb).

My question is whether or not it will support faster speed DDR3 memory. Either 1600 or 1866?

I imagine it comes down to both voltages and CPU support. I was not able to find details on the RAM voltages on the stock RAM, but some upgrade kits that are "certified" to work run at 1.5v. Online I have seen kits at both 1.35v and 1.5v.

The Intel ARK page for the i7 2600s lists support for up to 1333 speed for the CPU.

I am looking to buy a 32gb kit for my iMac and wanted to make sure I get the best option available.
Has anyone tried faster RAM kits at all? If so, do you have the details of the kit you are using?
