Can someone check which Bluetooth version their new 2019 iMac has? Apple says Bluetooth 4.2, but there’s some rumors that the hardware actually supports BT5.0.

Here’s how to check your Mac’s BT version:

So if the 2019 iMac supports Bluetooth 5.0 what is going on? Is there something that all the hardware isn’t combatible or what. I just wonder why Apple i using older BT version in their new iMac...

Btw. Do you think will the 2019 iMac older faster as there’s no T2 chip?

I really need to upgrade my Mac and I’m think i9, Vega, 1TB SSD iMac..

My lip number is (0x9) which I believe is bluetooth 5. There was some speculation that the hardware was in place but that it hadn't been certified as bluetooth 5 when the 2019 iMac was released. Others who know about this kind of stuff can either verify or correct me.

Okey so it seem that the hardware is there. Hmm... This BT5.0 is interesting as I think many Apple’s new sharing technologies relies on it... So it would be great if the new iMac supported it.

Maybe Apple only calling it BT 4 because they don't yet have the proper driver or gov approval? I'm just spit balling.

Airpods 2 are BT 5.

If the iMac is BT 5, you can connect two sets of Airpods to it.. if you have access to them...

Interestingly, Apple only lists "Bluetooth" for Airpods. They don't even say which version, unlike the iMac specs which say "Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology".

I love my 2017 iMac. It's been a fantastic machine. The only issue I ever have with it is random bluetooth disconnections from the Magic Mouse and keyboard. I really hope the 2019 iMacs have bluetooth 5.0. I'd consider one assuming they don't have similar bluetooth issues that I've experienced on the 2017 model.

Does this mean Bluetooth 5.0? Mine is a custom 2019 27" iMac
