Is there any reason why performing the procedure for a clean install (ie: erase HD, reinstall MacOS) on an iMac 2019, it insists in installing Mojave no matter what you try? I accepted, installed Mojave, and I'm now updating to Ventura from the App Store. But why the clean install listed Mojave, and not even Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey??? I don't understand why this happened. Have you seen this before?

What keys did your press when booting?
  • Command + Option + R will reinstall the latest version of macOS compatible with your Mac (in most cases). Else, it will be the same as what’s mentioned below.
  • Command + Option + Shift + R will try to reinstall the version of macOS or OS X that was initially installed on your Mac when it was newly purchased. If the original version is unavailable, it will install the next closest version still available.
I am guessing you did Command + Option + Shift + R

Have you tried installing Mac OS with a USB installer?

I think I pressed Cmd+R (without Option, and without Shift).

I finally updated to Ventura when Mojave finished installing. So it's not a clean install, but clean install of Mojave, plus update to Ventura.

Command-R just uses the recovery partition that's on the disk, which is what's put there when you installed Mojave before.
