Hi!!

Im looking to get a data doubler for this unit, and I see the SATA bus that the internal drive is currently attached to is a SATA 6GB and the Optical Drive connection is SATA 3GB. My question is this:

If I get a data doubler, can I install the spinning HDD that the unit shipped with in that, and then install a SATA 6GB SSD on the hard drive bus. Doing this ill be able to take advantage of the SATA 6GB speed from that portion of the SATA Bus. Does this make sense? Or am I totally wrong in thinking this and trying to set it up this way?

Thanks!

Depends what this unit actually is. If it comes with USB3 or Thunderbolt, an external hard drive would fill the bill.
My unit has Thunderbolt on the back. Im looking to increase the performance on this unit for day to day tasks.
Thanks for the quick reply.

Im now reading to get this done I would need a special adapter to handle the thermal sensor - https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIDIMACHDD11/

But then Im also reading that some drives don't need this adapter.

Just ordered this drive:
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)
