iMac 21.5" vs Macbook retina

Why is there in imac 21.5 a geforce 650M with only 512vram and in a laptop they fit a better graphic card maybe the same card but with 1gb vram ?
Doesn't use desktops to have a better components than laptops?
yes the 27" imac has a better ones but still imac is suppose to be a desktop all in one
 
it's the macbook PRO, they want it to be higher end version, where iMac ranges from entry level up to powerhouse machine.
 
i dont think this is the case to say for example alienware company...i think desktops are powerful than laptops
