Main question: Do you think the 24" iMac will get better graphics options via Pro or even Max upgrades? Or will they be reserved for the larger iMac?

I've been watching the iMac for years, for the right time to upgrade my Late 2013 21.5" (16GB RAM, 1TB Fusion). Obviously, anything in the line up will be quite the jump up in performance, though my current computer is 'somewhat adequate' for now (video editing and games like Cities:Skylines would definitely benefit). I've been holding off on a purchase until the larger iMac is released, partly to get an idea of the future and understand the full line of up options.

To me, the 512GB and 16GB RAM upgrades are a must (Apple tax), which puts the 24" iMac within $100 USD of the base 14" MBP. So, to me, the trade off is screen size vs. portability and graphics improvement (amongst other things). TBH these are fairly close in value to me. Apple will likely push people to the larger, more expensive iMac, with better thermals(?) if they want upgraded graphics, which I suspect will be $2799 and up. I feel the screen size beyond 24" and whatever else Apple cooks up on their upgraded large iMac will not be as valuable to me, so an M1 Pro option on the 24" iMac would let me have my (expensive) cake and eat it too.

There isn’t enough history to create a real trend, but in my mind, Apple will continue use Mx CPUs in MBA, iPad Pro, 24” iMac and the Mac mini. The Mx Pro/Max CPUs will go into the MBPs, larger iMacs and eventually the Mac Pro, although the Mac Pro may end up with multiple CPUs like they used to have.
