Hi, my old faithful iMac has become very slow. Opening a program stakes several minutes and it hangs very often when I open Photos and Safari simultaneously, to the point it has become unusable.
These are my current specs :
iMac (24-inch, Early 2009)
Model identifier iMac9,1
Processor 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256 MB
I am thinking of installing an SSD (in place of the optical drive) and doubling the RAM to 8 MB. I will cost me 400 euros to get it done. I might also replace the hard drive with a larger and (possibly faster) one.
Do you think the upgrade will extend the usability of my iMac by a couple of years for web browsing and for managing my photo library (250 GB large) ?
Thanks for your advice,
Caezar
