I recently bought the new air M1, base model, I have been ordering the new imac 24 with 8/8 and 16/512.

My big doubt, having both the same M1 make a combo with both, one fixed and the other portable, will it be a good idea??

Is it better to wait for a screen of 30, knowing that it is much more expensive? I'm not a professional at all, I use the PC just for fun, and basic photography.

I have the imac ordered for delivery from August 10th, but I'm really in doubt whether to keep or cancel it....I've seen it live and loved the machine and above all the excellent quality of its screen...I hid the yellow.

Right now I'm also loving the Air, even though it's the basic model.

Do you need portability? If not I would just get the iMac and an iPad. I can hardly get any job done on a 13", I'm a designer/photographer and my 13" MBP is always connected to an external screen. This is not ideal so I'm getting the iMac

If using the PC is just for fun to you, then why are you hesitating?
Go for it!
Just some grands of leisure money, no big deal.

When I say more for leisure it's because I don't edit video, I work on it for everything else, namely a lot of writing... and I like editing photos.
Of course a cheaper computer would do, but I particularly like the MacOS and the fantastic screens that apple makes.
I think 24" will be enough and a medium size for people who don't take a very professional job on these machines, although they do these jobs very well.

I don't know who has these two machines and if you think it's really ideal to take them out of the house and then enjoy a bigger screen inside the house and more familiar.

Only that.

I have 4 Macs. While the Mac Pro 1,1 is simply a collectible item, the other 3 iMacs are used daily by my family (wife & 2 kids). My iMac 2010 was the most expensive (~450$ incl upgraded parts), the other two 2009 iMacs were 200$/a piece including upgraded SSD&GPU.

The Macs served all the light tasks for my family, which are lighter than your intended tasks for your Macbook Air & iMac.

I have the combo you are asking about -- an iMac 24, 8 core/16GB/1TB, an MBA 8 core/8GB/512GB. For me it's the perfect pairing. The iMac is in my home office and is my "base station" for both business and personal use. I use the MBA occasionally when working in other rooms, but mostly it goes outside the home with me for business. Lightweight and powerful. For many years I had iMac 27s, but always felt the 24" was the sweet spot for me. I may swap out the MBA for the new 14" MBP if it ever arrives, but for now I'm very happy with this setup.
