Hi Everyone,
I have a imac27 2012 (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB) and I just bought Dell UltraSharp U2713HM. I want to use dell monitor as second monitor(extended) for my iMac. At the moment I'm using thunderbolt to hdmi converter and connect dell monitor using hdmi cabal. dell monitor support (2560 x 1440) but when I connected dell monitor run at low resolution ( 1080p). can anyone help me to find out how can I use dell monitor also 2560 x 1440 resolution.
Thank you.

"Supports up to 1920x1200 resolutions" So this would not work with a 1440p Display.

What the OP needs is dual link DVI -> http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=6904&seq=1&format=2

Or Mini Displayport to Displayport (Not 100% sure here) -> http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6007&seq=1&format=2

I would definitely try the mini display port to display port cable for 5 bucks first. I think ive read that this works before. better to spend 5 bucks on that then 65 on the duel link cable.

Hi , I've go through the link which u have post.... but that cable say it only Supports up to 1920x1200 resolutions (single link). I go through what others suggest but i could find only Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter is support 2560 x 1440. .... but it expensive ....... do you have any other suggest
thank you.:):)
At least one reviewer wrote that it works with his MBP to the same U2713HM monitor:

That would be the worst possible idea. Something that takes mini displayport to displayport would be the best one, but some of the monoprice stuff is hit and miss. Anyway the OP needs a decent mini displayport to displayport cable, not a thunderbolt cable + adapter. You should never use a thunderbolt cable for a non-thunderbolt display.

Displayport should be used over hdmi whenever possible, as it's natively supported. It's not perfectly supported, but your solution is extremely convoluted.

DVI should never be your primary choice on a displayport display. I might try a different mini displayport to displayport cable. Those monoprice ones have a lot of complaints from people using Dells.

There should be no issues with a mini Displayport to Displayport cable. About $6 on Amazon. I'm doing the same thing with a different 27" 1440p monitor connected to my wife's MacBook Air.
