Hi all
I currently run an iMac 27 (Mid 2011) desktop machine.
This machine has 2 Thunderbolt connections, no Mini Display Port.

I would like to use an older style iMac 27 (Late 2009) as display only.
This machine has a Mini Display Port.

Will any Thunderbolt to Mini Display Port cable do the trick?

I would be happy if the display works, if sound and USB work, that would be a bonus.

Romano

Mini DisplayPort support is built into Thunderbolt. You can grab a Mini DisplayPort cable on Amazon for $8.

Mini DisplayPort does support audio, but it will not allow you to use the USB ports on your 2009 as I understand it (that would be more of a Thunderbolt-to-Thunderbolt feature)

EDIT: You can read more about Thunderbolt / Mini DisplayPort and Target Display Mode here
