my iMac has recently been beachballing soooooo often and all i can hear is my harddrive speed up when i click a link in safari or open safari or try to open sims 3. !!!!! !!!!! !!!!!!!!!

how do i check to see what model hard drive i have so i can see if it has any problems... 1TB, stock model i5.
I dont really want to buy an SSD but i will go to apple and say that my hard drive is clicking(ever so slightly and i know it is the thingymadgigy movin gonto the disc to read
) and is slow ect
any help for this hurt a new mac user? :3
