When I get my imac 27inch..what kind of cable will I need to go from the imac to another monitor I have that has a VGA connection.

It also has an HDMI connection.
Is one better then the other (VGA or HDMI)

Also does it matter if it is an apple brand?

I was at best buy today and saw all these cables...and the apple brands were 20 to 30.00 more.

I didn't end up getting on as I wasn't sure which one I needed and they are all so short....doesn't seem like it would even go from the imac to the secondary monitor.

I think this is what I need
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/B/mini-displayport-to-vga-adapter
(for the VGA connection).

For HMDI.

I want to have the 2nd (and maybe even 3rd monitor) be a separate monitor (not an extension of the desktop). I am coming from the PC world. So when I read in some of the threads "target" monitor..I am not sure what that means.
