Hi Guys,

I am about to replace my old iMac 27 withe the latest model, in special for video editing with FCPX and Motion.

Do you think is a good idea to get the 3 TB fusion drive and then use a usb 3.0 external drive (3TB) for time machine?
I want to have a backup of all my videos. i am expecting to fill in the 3 TB with videos in about 6 months to 1 year.

What will be the best setup for a fast editing experience and safe backup?
Do you think I can get better performance from a NAS fro example?

Thanks in advance.

In terms of NAS, I've heard good things about the latest Drobo device although I'm a little wary of them since having a crappy experience the last time I used one. Maybe a Thunderbolt RAID device would do the trick? the cost is pretty high but you do get the benefit of a huge amount of storage and massive speed.

I've had Drobo 5D with 5x4tb drives since late last year and get ~250-275MBps transferring between it and my iMac's internal SSD. Nice unit but cost me about $1,600.
