Hello,
I have just purchased a 09 imac 27", its currently got a 1.5tb hdd but i want to add a ssd in the superdrive bay or remove the 3.5" drive all together.

My question is: is there a big noise difference in an 27" imac if the oem sata hdd is removed or powered down? (i cant test this because i dont have mine yet)

Is it worth me removing the oem hdd to make the imac more quiet? I dont really need the space, the 240gb ssd will do fine. And if it makes a big difference i will just mount the new 2.5" ssd in the 3.5" space and leave the super drive.

Im basically just enquiring how much extra noise the oem hdd adds to the imac so would be great if someone that has fitted a ssd tell me what a difference in noise it makes..

Thanks.
Bo

P.s. on a side note, do i need a cable adaptor to fit the 2.5" ssd in the superdrive bay? Or will the plug that normally fits the super drive fit the ssd? (i have searched on here but cant find a solid answer)
