Hello there,
i guess that this discussion is already around, but please help, or send me links that can help.
We need advice considering the new iMac setup, as we are tight in budget (and iMac prices in Croatia is far more expensive than US. )
We do documentary production, and will also purchase avid 8.0 and fcp pro x, and after effects.
What we plan to buy:
iMac 21.5" Quad-core i7 3.9GHz/16GB Ram
We have dilemma regarding two components:
1. Is the graphic card that come with the iMac 21: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1GB GDDR5 suitable for those needs?
2. I guess that the bottleneck in system would be HDD that is 1TB 5400 rpm in basic model.
Would you suggest fusion drive instead (a lot of people claim it is not good for pro editing).
SSD 256 is not enough for us, and SSD 512 is too expensive.
Keep in mind that all of our projects and material are stored on external drives (sata 7200, usb 3.0, opt. RAID configuration).
So, if our projects are on external storage, how much does the 5400rpm HDD impact overall performance?
Or do you think that 27" i5 3.4 ghz with added 16 GB RAM is way to go
Thank you in advance!
Mario
