imac 27" or macbook pro 17"?

I would love advice on whether I should purchase a 27" imac or a 17" macbook pro. I will mainly use it to edit my photos. Do I want to get the 27" imac, which has a gloss screen, or get the 17" macbook pro with matte screen and later add a 30" matte separate screen? I am so confused as to what to do (even after one on one personal shopping appt.) and I truly appreciate any input!

The salesperson at the apple store said the gloss screen is not as accurate as the matte screen. I am not very computer savvy and simply want to spend my money wisely!
