Hi, I can't help but notice my new 2011 SSD iMac 27" has really slow shutdown times :(, around 45 seconds. Is this normal? Its specs are: 3.1GHz i5, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1GB, I also installed 16GB of RAM. Boot up times vary from 25-45 seconds, apps open very fast. If anyone could let me know if there's anyway to fix this that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Reset the PRAM. I had a problem with my new iMac and slow boot/shutdown. A PRAM reset did the trick and I have fast boot and shutdown speeds.

Thanks! That seems to of solved the problem, shuts down nearly instantly now! Boot up is also faster, probably 25 seconds.

I had a similar problem today, this is what I did:

1- Shut down the computer
2- Unplug the power cable for 15 seconds
3- Connect the power cable
4- Disconnect the Apple Airport for 5 seconds (If you have one)
5- Connect the Apple Airport cable (Wait for the green light)
6- Turn on the computer
