So now i dont know what to choose... Im either getting a real good pc, with inte core i5 3,3ghz
8gb ram
Nvidia geforce Gtx 580. With 1,5gb
Or
The 27" high end imac with:
3.1 ghz inte core i5
8gb ram
Amd radeon Hd 6970m with 1gb ram.

The pc will cost about 1600 dollars and the imac is about 2600 dollars.
This computer main purpose will be gaming.
Which computer should i go for?

Does the PC come with a monitor?

If your main intended use is gaming then I would stick to a Windows PC. I love my OSX and Macs, but there are times when a PC makes more sense.

That's a lot of money for gaming...

With that in mind you could argue that an iMac is a lot of money for drawing pretty pictures. :)

I agree, if you're intended purpose is gaming, the Windows PC is the best option. OS X isn't setup well for gaming in a broad spectrum sense of the idea.

If your main concern is gaming, then obviously get the PC, this much should be clear. The Gtx 580 is about twice as fast as the 6970m.

hmm okey then im going for the pc i guess ;) no a 24" screen will cost me about 300$ extra ;) but thats still about 500$ cheeper :D

Well yes. I would expect a worse monitor to cost less than a better one, just like I would expect a BMW 320 to be less expensive than a BMW M3.

it depends what types of games
for fps only the PC is better.
to run a game at the 27" natives 2.5k resolution is also punishing
for games only, a 1.6k res is better

if you want the computer for other things, like web browsing or photo editing, the 27" imac is superb
the 27" monitor is a crucial part of the value statement, if you don't need it and/or the resolution is not right for games you want it negates its worth

I have a new one and have been running counterstrike source at full resolution at mostly full settings and its brilliant.
albeit this is not the latest game

If I wanted an imac for games only I would probably buy the 21.5" one with a i7
