iMac 27" with OS X Lion - Start-up funnies

Hi guys,

Twice now I've turned on my iMac and it's asked me to select which user to log in as. I've never set it up to ask this and I don't ever recall creating a guest account.

But if I select my own account it starts up (slowly) but it's like some of my settings aren't there... the mouse is slow etc.

I also don't automatically connect to my home wi-fi and when I try to connect to it it can't find any networks at all!!!!!

If I restart the machine it starts normally, not asking me to log in with a password and all my settings and wi-fi are there.

Anyone know what this could be?
