iMac + 2nd Monitor, easy question.

I plan to get myself a 24" iMac and I have a 24" Dell Monitor at the moment, if I hook it up with my iMac and I buy a TV Tuner for my iMac, can I just have the TV Tuner software on one screen and say a game on another?

I have never done a dual screen setup before, but I would like to use one for videos/watch TV and while I edit my videos.

Yeah, you can put whatever you want on either monitor.

Awesome, I wont always be using the 2nd monitor so I guess not turning it on will make the Mac use just the one?

My iMac still knows the other monitor is there even when it's powered off. I never actually try to use mine with the second monitor off though, so I'm not sure what kind of behavior you'd get. Why wouldn't you want to use the other screen?

I only want to use it when watching videos/tv or video editing. .
