iMac 5k Broken

My iMac 5k going to Apple Store Friday, turns on showing apple logo and progress bar, bar goes one third way up then turns off. Tried all resets cannot verify disc or repair disc, booked call from apple 11.45 today, by 1.30 he could not get it going so booked appointment for me, Friday 3.45. Anyone any ideas?

Did you do a reformat before trying the install? Looks like the drive is probably toast if you did.

Obviously a problem with the fusion drive.
Many times the mechanical drive fails, but it would be better to give some info about your iMac's hardware.

Fusion drive consists of a SSD and a rotating drive.
Try to separate them and recreate-fusion them...

Of course at first save - backup your files.

If the hard drive is broken? 1tb fusion, would apple let me exchange for 3tb fusion, or 256 ssd and pay the extra

Apple store has now repaired my iMac, erased the fusion drive reformatted, all is working well now, glad they did'nt have to open it up
