Hello folks,

I found this on an iMac 5K at the local Apple Store here in Berlin (see screenshot).
On my iMac 5K at home, I found that option, too. Running OS X 10.11, no beta.

It appears that the checkbox sometimes is there, sometimes not.
And I found no explanation anywhere for what it is supposed to do.

Any ideas?

HDR is High Dynamic Range. It's a means of boosting the range between bright and dark portions of images, while maintaining detail in each. In still photography it is achieved by the camera taking a rapid series of shots at different exposure levels to capture good highlights and shadows and combining them into one frame.

LCD monitors have limited dynamic range, so to produce images with higher contrast range, the intensity of the backlight LEDs is adjusted on a frame by frame basis, based on image content. This improves the display of video and game content.

It's explained here:

Ok, any idea why the option is there and sometimes not? Right now my new 5K doesn't have it.

Wow!! I would like to no also. I have never seen this HDR option on my 2014 iMac 5k with 290X. Very odd. Would love to check it out.
