I replaced my i5 base 5k with an i7, 32gb, 295X, 5k and I am the opposite of the super happy I should be. The fan goes to a roar for about 20 seconds randomly, happens in sleep mode (repeatedly) or when I just have a browser window open. This never happened with the i5. The last time it happened the screen freaked out and broke into random small artifacts and then froze. I talked with apple care and we reset the PRAM and SMC last night but it is still doing it today. I understand if the fan was kicking on during load but that is not the case. It also does not feel like it is hot or generating heat. Is anyone else having a similar issue?
