iMac 5K vs. MBP16 for Video Editing + Specs

Novice video editor, progressing rapidly.
Portability of a MBP would be great - but not at the expense of a "significantly better" video processing machine.
Should I skip the MBP and go straight to the iMac?
And where are my upgrade dollars best spent? Processor? RAM? Graphics Card?

For video processing, especially if this is more than a hobby, I'd probably choose the iMac, i9 processor, 8gb RAM (and upgrade it yourself, costs a lot less) plus Vega graphics.
