I already have an rMBP 15" 2.6Ghz, 16GB Ram, 512 SSD, Iris Pro, which I rent through my Visuel Communication education and I have 2 more years. But I'm getting tired of working on the little 15" screen, so I'm thinking about buying a Vertical Docking Station from Henge Docks and a 4K IPS monitor or a iMac 5K Skylake, when it comes later this year.

I like the idea of having my rMBP as my desktop with a Eizo 32" EV3237 4K monitor, which I consider to buy and the iMac 5K cost more then twice as much. I does look like an awesome computer.

Have any of you regret buying a 4K monitor with your laptop instead of a iMac 5K? I am really confused. I can see myself having a good 4K monitor for about 7-8 years, but I don't know if the iMac 5K will be fast enough for so lang.

Well you already have the laptop. This would be a different conversation if you didn't have anything. Smart money is buying a 4k external monitor if it's over 50% cheaper
