iMac A1311 no headphone jack output and hissing out of speakers

I'm trying to troubleshoot a headphone jack output problem on a Mid 2011 iMac MC309LL/A.

I've already tried replacing the audio ports on it but that didn't solve the problem. I've been reading around about 10.6.8 Snow Leopard having problems with it but I haven't found a solution that works for me.
Resetting PRAM didn't work either.

Is my only option to reinstall Snow Leopard and not upgrade to 10.6.8?
