I was wondering if an iMac could be used as a monitor for a PC. After reading it seems it can only be used as a monitor for another apple product like a macbook pro etc. However after stumbling across this article , http://jsndev.net/199/custom-gaming-pc-build-with-apple-thunderbolt-display-and-discrete-gpu/ , it seems that it could be possible as it can be done with a thunderbolt display. Would anyone with greater knowledge in the matter/ some one who has accomplished it be able to give any advice on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No, Thunderbolt displays and Thunderbolt equipped iMacs in Target Display Mode are not the same. A Thunderbolt iMac in TDM can only be used with an other Thunderbolt Mac because the other Macs has to issue commands as well as a proprietary video signal to the iMac.
