Is it possible to use the display in an iMac (2011/2012) as an external display for a MBA (2012) while, simultaneously, connecting the iMac to a TV to use as a media-center?

I recently used my 27" iMac (2010) as a secondary screen for my MBA. I noticed music playing on the iMac kept playing even though I had taken over the screen. So now I'm wondering if, with the 2011/2012 iMacs that have two thunderbolt ports, I can use one thunderbolt port to connect my MBA to it and use the second to connect the iMac to a TV. Given all the correct cables/adapters/converters are used, will I be able to see the iMac's UI on the TV while simultaneously using its screen as an external display for my Air?

I ask simply out of curiosity.
