Maybe this is a dumb question (and today I'm too lazy to search and dig into previous topics, I'm sorry!) but I wonder if I can get rid of my tiny, 20" tv, and replace it with a 27" iMac. The tv is hooked to a sky box, thus I guess I need some sort of adapter. Any suggestion?

Nonetheless. Check out Elgato.com

I have a comcast HD cable box connected to a Hauppauge HD PVR connected to my 27" iMac via USB and I use it to watch TV every night.

As far as connecting a box directly to the iMac. I don't think that's possible.

Just don't expect to be able to play video games on it (through the Elgato).
There's too much lag.

I guess all TVs will be simple computer screens one day.

Why have separate devices? What's the word... convergence.

Go for it if you have the cash. But it will end up being a media centre too.
