Hi Guys, long time reader of the forums- first post, and it's a good one!

Just finished repairing (well, maybe not) an old iMac 4,1 - put in a 2.33 Ghz Core2Duo, and replaced the old faulty screen with a new one using the adaptor from realmacmods.com- put the machine together and all was good the system booted and I could log in- perfect.

However, have since opened the machine up again to readjust the screen (wasn't centred in the 'opening') and since then haven't been able to get the machine to boot up to desktop again in safe mode or from a restore USB stick- the machine will boot to the log in screen in safe mode, but won't allow for text or the 'login' button to be hit and when booting from USB or normally will only boot to a blue screen. I've tried replacing the RAM (from two old 1GB sticks to a single 2GB stick) but unsure what else could be wrong with the machine. Any ideas?

EDIT: Right - gets even stranger, if you leave the machine to go to sleep and then wake it up it will work as normal, no problems at all.

Second Edit: Never mind, sometimes the simplest solutions work best - a single sweep 0 format of the hard drive and a fresh install of Lion seem to have rectified the problems and the machine now works as it should
