I have a 2011 27 imac that I sold I need to ship it I have a new imac box which I can't seem to get it to work out right cause the monitor size change anyone have any suggestions to make it work besides cutting?

I'm not sure using the 2012 iMac box for earlier iMacs is a good idea. It's not just the cutouts in the foam, but the shape of the cardboard.
Your best bet is to go to a package shipping place and have them pack it. And save your current box for when you sell your current iMac, especially if you tend to upgrade every year or so.
