Hi all,
I have been noticing that my iMac occasionally wakes up at random, or at least has the hard drive turn on and off. It's back to sleep within about 5 seconds. I haven't been able to figure out what is causing this, but thought others may have run into this. The iMac is connected via Ethernet cable to a time capsule, but not wirelessly. I don't think wake on LAN is set currently. We just got an Apple TV as well, but the machine wakes up even while the ATV is off, so it's not an issue of scanning the machine for a playlist, etc. any other ideas? This may not be a huge issue, but it does introduce added wear and tear on the drive I would like to avoid. Thanks!

Check under Preferences, Energy Saver and see if wake for network access is checked. That's typically what causes that. If you don't need that feature enabled, untick it.
