Hi I have a 1st Gen ALU iMac 24" . I had the optical replaced and when returned I noticed the LCD was scratched. I have had Apple replace this .
I have since noticed the Backlight takes about 50 minutes(from cold) to completely warm up to uniform brightness. It is worst in the first 5 minutes ( pictures enclosed). I think it did this before the LCD was replaced , but warmed up quicker. I am thinking of taking it to my local Apple store as it still has 18 Months Applecare on it.
Is this normal with this type of Imac LCD, or should I get it replaced
I have also read this on the apple site"

any Apple products use fluorescent lamps to illuminate the display, including:
Some MacBook Pro computers
MacBook (All Models)
Some PowerBook computers
iBook computers
Some iMac computers
Apple Cinema Displays
Apple Studio Displays
These products use fluorescent lamp backlighting and reflective techniques to produce a bright image.
When you first turn on the computer, or wake it from a lengthy sleep, its brightness gradually increases until it reaches a normal operating temperature. This warm-up period can range from several minutes to over an hour, depending on display's size and the environment in which it is being used.
Thanks
