iMac Buy and Sell

Looking to buy a new iMac. I am not a power user by any means and I tend to keep them for as long as i can. With this in mind, I have questions on which to buy. Since I keep them for so long, I think I should get the latest version possible??? I would also like to save money if possible (maybe a refurb?) Anyone have opinions on where I should buy and which one? Does it really matter if I get the latest? Again, I am mainly an internet surfer for the most part, no gaming or anything.

Also, I have a 2008 basic iMac. Is it worth anything? If so, is there a reputable place to sell that anyone can recommend?
