Hey so as the post title describes, I am looking at buying the newest 27" iMac this summer.

I have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro that I upgraded to 500GB HDD and 8GB RAM, which I am just not getting the performance that I would like (it's only a dual core 2.4 C2D after all), so I am looking to upgrade.

I like the 27" iMac with the upgraded option to get the 3.4GHz i7 quad core processor, the stock RAM and 1TB HDD are fine with me.

I am mainly using it for photoshop, lightroom, iPhoto, as well as Logic (producing my friend's band's music) and general computer stuff. I'm open to new options but the huge screen and quad core processor seem to answer everything I have been looking for.

My main question for this post is that when would be a good time to buy this? I am not in an extreme rush, and Apple is notorious for refreshing products right after I purchase the original (read: outdated) model. Also would it be worth it waiting until tax-free weekend (august 2-4 in NC, quite a ways away :( ) to save ~$150 on tax?

Thanks
