iMac buying help... 2.7 or 3.1?

Sorry for this annoying thread.

I'm looking to buy an iMac BTO and sell my MBP in my signature but I cannot decide on which setup. I DO NOT play games, I do every day tasks and HEAVY photoshop with large PSDs and RAWs. Handbrake to rip movies, email, web, Adobe Flash and Premier here and there. Some web development as well sometimes.


I was looking to do a 256GB SSD + 1TB setup but not sure of which CPU. Any advice on which setup?

2.7GHz Intel Core i5
2560 x 1440 resolution
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB Serial ATA Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive [Add $540.00]
ATI Radeon HD 6770M with 512MB

or

3.1GHz Intel Core i5
2560 x 1440 resolution
4GB (two 2GB) memory
1TB Serial ATA Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive [Add $540.00]
ATI Radeon HD 6970M with 1GB

Either one would be more than enough for any photoshop work.

Is the 3.1 worth the extra $ for the GPU and slight CPU increase?

If you are not going to play games, I'd suggest choose the 6770M GPU. Last I checked, Photoshop is not going to take any advantages the faster 6970M GPU offers.

Also the slight increase in CPU clock frequency not going to have major affects on the tasks you listed.
