Imac c2d not taking screen shots

i need to take a screen shot but ,my mac has suddenly stopped taking them i try both methods but still no joy

any help would be great

By "both methods" I assume you mean Apple-Shift-3 and Apple-Shift-4. Try restarting, if you haven't in a while, or see if you have the Image Capture program in your Applications folder.
