Hello - I have a 27" iMac that is just less than 1 year old. I am having an issue that if I plug in my iPad or iPhone to the USB ports, neither device will charge. Instead the device constantly thinks its being unplugged and plugged back in (iPhoto, opens and the device will then think its been disconnected).

Any tips on what is happening? I would think these ports have enough power to charge i-Devices? I have tried plugging both devices in separately with the same result.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

First, the iPad cannot be charged by the iMac. It has to be charged via the wall outlet.

As for the iPhone, you may have a bad cable or a bad port on the iMac. Have you tried swapping cables out?

Not sure about the iMac but I charge my iPhone 6 and my iPad Air through the USB ports on the back of my Apple 27" display. I do not use wall plugs.

Everything is charging correctly now :)

My conclusion is that I had a bad iPad USB cable.
