G'day,

I've just repurposed my Early 2009 iMac 24", which has been sitting idle for years - now being used by my son.

According to what I've read online, it should be able to access a 5G network. My modem/router has both 2G and 5G networks, and I have about 5 devices successfully connecting to 5G.

The iMac can see the router's 2G network, but not the 5G.

It can see our neighbour's 5G.

If I try to manually enter the 5G network / password - it says it doesn't exist.

Any thoughts on what's happening and how to resolve?

Cheers

Found a YouTube video with the solution.

The channel/s that my router had defaulted to for the 5G network were not available on my Mac(s).

I've changed the channel, and now it's accessible.

You can see what channels are available for your Mac by going:

Apple menu / About this mac / System Report / Network / Wifi --> Supported Channels
