when i tried to rip my copy of Radiohead's Hail to the Thief, i inserted the CD as i would with any other CD, but it stayed in there for about 15 seconds then ejected, no notice on finder that a CD had been inserted. it's not scratched, and all my other CDs still work fine. is it maybe copy protection on the CD that's stopping it from working on a computer?

maybe your iMac has a better taste of music than you :p

no just kidding, i have had this with my pc a couple of times, but mostly with rewritable dvd's. Pc wouldn't see it, pbook did. can you use another computer?

and i think that even with copy protection you should be able to play the cd on your mac?

I had no problem ripping that onto my computer either. Nor have I heard about any copy-protection on it.

Try restarting your iMac and see if that helps?

I had a problem similar to this on my iBook G3. The iBook would recognize my Queens of the Stone age cd. I just would spit it back out. I tried it on some POS old pc and it picked it up no problem. I then took the songs off the pc to my mac and everything was fine. I thought the CD was copy protected at first, but it then I got it working on a pc.... go figure.

radiohead is great. shush fool :p

anyway, i managed to get it on. i can't remember whether i restarted it or just waited a while. all i know is 2+2=5 is playing right now and i'm loving it

I haven't been able to get into anything since The Bends. Everything after that just sounds pretentious to me.

To each his own, obviously, but I think the iMac in question may be on my side here.
