Hi all. Is there a web site or does anyone know which iMac configurations are sold in the physical Apple store? I'm specifically looking for a 27" Core i7 w/ 8GB of RAM. Thanks!

I think they have do RAM upgrades in stores. You should call them and ask...

ps-i would advise you buy RAM and upgrade it yourself (if you're comfortable with it) because you'll save some money if you buy your own RAM.

cheers.

A 5 year old could install ram in an iMac.

Is there some reason you need/want 8 gigs of ram?

Where are you in the world?

Discounts, no tax, free shipping, etc can be had at many online retailers

Just price the RAM out before you decide whether to upgrade in the store or not. I know it was slightly cheaper with an EDU discount to upgrade in the store back in 2006 when I bought my last Apple machine.

8 gigs of RAM is cheap on a 27" iMac because it only needs 2 GB DIMMS.

Sorry...yes, I know how easy it is to upgrade RAM. I'm less worried about that then I am about seeing if they have the Core i7's in stock. I'm in the Bay Area so there are plenty of stores around...I'm just too lazy to go check. :D Good point about the online/no tax suggestions...I'll look into that.

Oops...forgot that my company gets a 10% discount at Apple stores which negates the no tax savings...

Yaknow, you could've saved yourself a lot of speculation by just calling the Apple Store you plan on visiting and asking about their stock...

Yeah, I know. But it's a legitimate question and by posting it here, the answer is free and available to everyone. Calling the store and finding out doesn't help anyone but me.
