iMac 2012, fusion drive, both WoNetworkAccess and App nap are active. Im mostly concerned my HDD is gonna die waking up all the time.

This is the wake reasons log:

first, im gonna try experimenting with WoNA and app nap, but im hoping for a better solution, since i wouldnt like losing those functions and it didnt behave this way before, only since installing high sierra

any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Mine is doing this also. I always thought it was my time machine backup but, I shut off time machine to experiment and it still happened. The only thing that made it quit was shutting off wake for network access. After turning this off, l have not had one incident..

The usual suspect: something that runs in the background eventually hits something that wakes up the screen.

Immediate, sure fire solution: If you're not going to use it, turn it off. Yeah, yeah, I know; many people think that produces more wear and tear on the drive. I've never seen hard evidence of this. By that I mean actual test results on multiple Macs over a period of several years being shut down every 24 hours or more vs. multiple Macs that are only put to sleep. Absent that, such a contention is a conclusion drawn from a theory. It might be a great theory in general, but if the "damage" inflicted is not perceptible, then does that tree in the woods really make a sound?

I've always shut down my Macs, and have always replaced them because of software issues. (keeping up with "advances", mostly having to do with browsers)
