iMac display dimming?

I reset my PRAM yesterday to fix some issues with videos being choppy. It has helped somewhat in that regard, but I've noticed a new issue with my display becoming dimmed. I have my screen saver set to kick on after 5 minutes of inactivity. My display is set to turn off after 15 mins. My display is dimming, however, after 2 minutes of inactivity? It's very frustrating, and is actually causing me headaches because of the differences in brightness. Any help?

Try setting the screen saver to 10 minutes and see if that extends the period from two minutes to something around 4-5 minutes.

it actually wasn't based on the time of the screen saver..it was based on when the display was set to sleep. here's what i found..

screen saver set to 3 mins
display set to turn off after 10 mins

display dimmed after 2 mins

screen saver set to 9 mins
display set to turn off after 10 mins

display still dimmed after 2 mins

so it was based on when the display was set to sleep. i just fixed this by unchecking the option - "automatically reduce the brightness before sleep."

i'm just surprised it was dimming so much sooner (8 mins) than the display was going to sleep. oh well.

It's annoying how it dims when you are watching a DVD or a youtube movie.
