iMac display off, mini display port

hello,

i just bought a mini displayport cable to connect my iMac to my beamer. Everything works except 1 thing...

Is there an option to turn off the iMac display and still use the mini display port? I already tried ctrl + shift + eject. but that also turns off the MDP.

anyone?
