I know this issue has been raised multiple times and I have searched the forum but I haven't found a real answer yet.
Is there a reason why Apple doesn't add a video-in port? It seems to me like a win/win... I wouldn't THINK it would be too hard to add, but I could be wrong.
I know that you can get a switch for monitors used by multiple machines... I don't really see why Apple wouldn't add a button for "switch to external" or something... so that you could use the iMac as a screen for another machine.
I know... it doesn't fit with their design... but I just think it would make a lot of sense. As a person who has already switched to Mac and is in the market for an iMac it would be useful to use the iMac's screen from my MacBook.. but also, I was considering saving my PC to use as a simple server... I know I could remote to it, but it's just a hassle I feel should be easily avoidable.
Also... I tried and tried to convince my parents to get an iMac rather than a Vista machine... he didn't take my advice and every time I go over there I send half the time I could have been visiting with my family fighting with Vista because they can't figure out why something isn't working.
Anyway... it would be a good way to get people to "make the switch." They could still use their old machine without having to waste all the space on another monitor.
Am I alone in thinking that this is something that should have been included with the iMac long ago?
