Lately, my parents iMac has started experiencing trouble connecting to our wireless router. The connection speed will start fine, but within a few minutes will slow to a crawl, before effectively becoming nonexistent. Reboot the router and the process repeats. We have several other Apple devices in the house, and they lose conductivity at the same time.

You might think this means it's a router problem, but we actually tried two routers and the problem persisted. Now here's the kicker, if you turn off the iMac, the connection for all other devices returns to normal. I checked the network usage in the iMacs activity monitor, and it doesn't appear that there any errant processes eating up network bandwidth, and when we inquired with our ISP, they said it didn't appear there was any unusual Internet activity either.

So I'm wondering, has anyone else experienced a problem like this? It almost seems as though the Wi-Fi in the iMac has the capability to bring down the entire local network for some reason.

Meanwhile, I'm left feeling awful for having suggested to my parents that they switch to Mac, when their computer has already had a faulty power supply, and now this. :(
