Hello all,
I have searched the forums but from what I can tell my issue seems to be slightly different. I'll try to break it down to keep it simple:
I put iMac to sleep and if left for at least 3 hours the display does not wake up.
Computer can be heard (hard disk spinning etc) but thats it.
Turning it off does not fix the issue.
Unplugging it at the mains does not fix the issue.
Unplugging it and holding down the power button for five seconds does fix it temporarily.
When it finally turns on it shows the grey apple and then instead of my desktop it shows the screensaver password request (black screen and dialog box)
I've tried SMC reset which has improved it in that I simply have to restart it now (no need to unplug it etc) but the issue otherwise still remains. I've tried the Option Command P + R thing too, and an archive and install. I'm going to try a clean install - think this might fix it?
I've had this iMac since tuesday. First thing I did was to restore it from a time machine back up of my other iMac I had purchased and so this could be the reason why. It worked fine on tuesday and wednesday with no sleep issues.
